Tropical Biology Association

The Tropical Biology Association is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation for scientists from Europe and tropical countries, working together to train graduate biologists and build links for research and conservation in the tropics. It was established through funding from the Darwin Initiative of the UK Government in 1993. Since its inception it has run more than eight courses in tropical biology and has trained more than 100 African and Asian students, and more than 80 European students. Courses are run in Kibale Forest, Uganda, and in the Danum Valley in Sabah, Malaysia. The TBA European Office is in the School of Biological Sciences at Bristol University. World Forestry Congress

The World Forestry Congress will be hosted by Turkey in Antalya from 13 to 22 October 1997. The general theme is "Forestry for Sustainable Development: Towards the 21st Century". FAO (the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations) cooperates in the organisation of the Congress. The first call for papers has been circulated.
